Landscape Paintings by John Stanford
"When I first began to paint landscapes in college, I loved the immediacy captured by the American and European painters who took canvas and brushes outdoors to confront nature directly."
For more than 40 years, John Stanford has painted directly from nature, first in north Florida and now in north Georgia. His work combines intense observation with an intuitive approach to color, shape, intensity, and texture to produce an emotional response to nature. Says Stanford, "My paintings reveal as much about myself as the image portrayed." The gallery is proud to offer a group of recent paintings by John Stanford, from small oil sketches to large finished landscapes, such as the light-filled "Cole Creek, Georgia"
