Rebecca Crowell artist

Rebecca Crowell is known for her innovative painting techniques involving cold wax medium and mixed media; she will be publishing a definitive book on the topic (Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts and Conversations) with co-author Jerry Mclaughlin in late 2016. She is represented by a number of fine art galleries in the US, and has recently exhibited internationally in Ireland, Belgium and England. Her work is included in hundreds of private, public, and corporate collections, and in 2014 her painting Red Bog was recognized by John Seed of Huffington Post as one of ten memorable Paintings of the year. In 2011 and 2015 she was awarded commissions for multiple paintings for the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Since earning her MFA in painting from Arizona State University in 1985, Rebecca Crowell has led a life focused on painting. She has worked almost daily in her studio in western Wisconsin, with time out for travels and painting in England, Spain, the Western US, and the Canary Island of Lanzarote. In the fall of 2011, she was an artist in residence at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annamaghkerrig, in Ireland.
