Opening Reception
Saturday, June 7,
11:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Our June-July exhibition, From Nature, features paintings, sculpture, and photography by Atlanta artists Helen DeRamus and Mona Waterhouse, Tennessee photographer Don Dudenbostel, and Santa Fe enamel artist Zingaro. The exhibition is curated by Melanie Witt.
Atlantan Helen DeRamus is an intense, energetic, and reflective artist, and those characteristics resonate in her work. Her work reflects her passion for color, architectonic and organic forms, and texture. This exhibition features pieces in oil and encaustic, including photo-encaustic.
Don Dudenbostel's radiographs--X-ray photographs--of nature forms employ very low-level X-rays to reveal to the viewer the inner beauty of plants and shells. As a youth growing up in Tennessee, where he still lives, Dudenbostel became very interested in both science and photography, and through X-ray, he has been able to blend these two passions. He has exhibited widely in the USA; this is his first exhibition in Atlanta.
Mona Waterhouse's sensuous and tactile work in handmade paper, pigment, and wax--in two and three dimensions--takes its inspiration from seeds and pods as a metaphor for life. A native of Sweden, Waterhouse now lives Peachtree City. She has been the recipient of grants and awards from the Fulton County and Georgia Arts Councils, the Hambidge Center, and the Spoleto USA Arts Festival.
Santa Fe, New Mexico artist Zingaro creates collages in vitreous enamel on copper. Zingaro uses this ancient process, which fuses glass with metal, to create vibrant and elusive plays of light and color. Natural forms often provide the inspiration. His work is shown in galleries from Santa Fe to Chicago to Berlin. This is his first exhibition in Atlanta.
Gallery hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and by appointment
