Sergey Putikovskiy
Sergey Putikovskiy was born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1962 in a family of artists. As most of the contemporary Ukrainian artists he is classically trained and has 10 years of formal art education. From 1976 to 1980 he attended the State Art High School and in 1983 was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in Kiev. Sergey studied at the Department of Easel Painting in the class of the Professor Shatalin. He graduated in 1989 with a Masters Degree In Fine Arts. In 1995 he became a member of the All Ukrainian Artist’s Union.
Sergey’s passion for travel and reading has brought him to many places, but he has found his real inspiration in the vast plains of Central and Southern Ukrainian countryside:
In my landscapes I strive to capture the soothing exuberance of Ukrainian nature. My focus in creating these paintings is to reduce each experience to its visual and emotional essence.
He has a Dacha, or summer house, fifty miles from Kiev, where he does many of his open-air sketches; and he also has a studio in Kiev. He acknowledges being much influenced by the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist movements.
Putikovskiy has participated in numerous art exhibitions since 1988. His works can be found in the private collections in Ukraine, Russia, Germany, Switzerland and USA.
