The beautiful and windswept county of Northumberland, on England’s far northeast coast is home to some remarkable characters and independent spirits—none more so than artist Priscilla Day. The product of an extraordinary childhood, Day taught herself to read at an early age and soon after taught herself to draw, first by repeatedly trying the capture the likeness of her own teddy bear, and then by re-illustrating all of her favorite children’s stories, on any material that was available.
