Principally known a caricaturist, Collet studied with the artist George Lambert. A number of prints were made after his drawings, published by some of the leading print publishers of the day. Collett also did a number of pastoral landscapes and drawings of animals and birds. His drawings are usually recognizable by their thick black outlines. They are often quite charming, if a little coarsely drawn.
