Note:
Probably an illustration for a contemporary journal, the drawing shows the original conception by Borglund, who left the project in the 1920s and went on to create Mount Rushmore in North Dakota. Stone Mountain, as it exists today, is based on the design of Walker Kirkland Hancock, who was chosen by committee to complete the memorial in 1964.
