BETTY EDGE & WAYNE TRAPP
Betty Edge: Photography on metal
Wayne Trapp: Paintings

March 27 – May 16, 2009
Opening Reception: Friday, March 27, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Atlanta photographer Betty Edge continues her exploration of photography printing on metal. In her new body of work, her images, based on nature forms, inch closer to pure abstraction. The use of aluminum allows Edge to project the fragility and evanescence of her subject matter, as the picture surfaces reflect light, which is always changing.

North Carolina-based painter Wayne Trapp is already well known in the Atlanta area, having exhibited here for a number of years. Trapp's vibrant, highly textured, abstract canvases are saturated with color and filled with dynamic energy, reflective of the man himself.. His latest works speak to his insatiable passion for life and beauty.

Despite the difference in media and approach, each artist's work complements the other's, creating interesting parallels in both form and coloration.

Betty Edge studied photography at the Showcase School, Atlanta, the Atlanta College of Art, and the Callanwolde Center for the Arts, Atlanta. She has exhibited in Atlanta regularly over the last five years; her work can be seen numerous corporate and private collections and in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA)..

Wayne Trapp is known both as a painter and a sculptor, with a long list of corporate commissions, from AT&T to The New York Times to Coca-Cola. His work is in numerous private and museum collections, and his public commissions include one for Atlanta's Lindbergh Plaza.
