Mona Waterhouse creates paintings, sculpture, wall objects, photographs and installations using handmade paper, pigment, and wax. She uses nature, in particular seeds and pods, as a source of inspiration. The natural materials she uses are strong, fragile, and brittle, expression the resilience and vulnerability of nature. Her work is not about scientific accuracy but an artist's vision integrated with contemplation, observation, and reverence for the natural world.
A native of Sweden, Waterhouse has lived and studied in Swede, England, and the USA. She now lives in Peachtree City, Georgia. She holds degrees in fine arts and art education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
