George Samuel

George Samuel painted in both oil and watercolor. He exhibited landscape watercolors at the Royal Academy from 1786 until his death, and he scored at least one notable success with a view of the frozen river Thames (1789). His style is obviously based on that of rather early Sandby, though his figure drawing isn’t as good. He sketched in the west of England near the Welsh borders, Cornwall, and elsewhere.
