Samuel Prout

In 1819 Prout made his first visit to France--a visit that was to have profound effects on his style and subject matter. In subsequent years he made constant visits to France, Belgium, the Rhine, and Bavaria, and in 1824 he made his first tour of Italy. By 1835 he found that he was not strong enough to continue living in London and he moved to Hastings. In 1846 he made his last tour of Normandy.
